Communication without words

Stats from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

So much more effective than numbers on a page.

This is the best presentation of statistical information I’ve seen in a while.  These posters use no language but are extremely effective in showing the merits of drug treatment and rehabilitation.

According to the website “The posters are a training tool specifically aimed at the Russian police, whose country has a particularly poor track record in drug treatment.” I certainly got the message.

Nice one, Sonia – and thanks for kicking off the blog!
Since no one else is commenting yet, I thought I’d have a go and say that this post mirrors a post on the other CPAS blog diffusion at http://blog.cpas.anu.edu.au/diffusion/2010/02/12/non-traditional-visualisations/. It seems this is a discussion science communicators need to have.
